The Denon DJ PRIME 4 G2 is a professional 4-channel, 4-deck standalone DJ system designed to give mobile DJs, event performers, clubs, and working professionals an advanced all-in-one performance platform. Combining powerful standalone playback, dedicated Stems controls, dynamic effects, integrated lighting control, full-size jog wheels, and a large multi-touch display, PRIME 4 G2 provides the flexibility to perform without relying on a laptop.
A major innovation of the PRIME 4 G2 is its MPCe performance pad technology. The system features 16 velocity- and pressure-sensitive pads with 3D-sensing technology, allowing individual pads to provide multiple simultaneous performance parameters. MPCe-enabled modes provide expressive control for functions such as Stems, Rolls, Filters, Hot Cues, FX, and lighting. Denon DJ identifies six MPCe-capable pad modes in addition to classic and Engine Lighting pad modes.
The PRIME 4 G2 features four full-size 8-inch jog wheels, each with a high-resolution display that provides essential track and performance information. The large jog surfaces provide a more traditional turntable-style performance experience while the integrated displays keep important information directly in front of the DJ.
At the center of the system is a 10.1-inch 1280 × 800 full-color optically bonded multi-touch display. The touchscreen provides access to track browsing, waveforms, Stems controls, FX, library management, settings, and performance information without requiring a computer.
Standalone Performance with OmniSource
PRIME 4 G2's OmniSource architecture is designed to provide seamless access to multiple music sources. DJs can move between USB drives, SD cards, an optional internal SATA drive, and supported computer DJ software sources. This makes it possible to build a complete performance system around the media and software workflow that best fits the event.
The system supports Engine DJ as its standalone platform, with SoundSwitch integration for lighting control. Denon DJ states that Serato DJ Pro, Algoriddim djay, and VirtualDJ support are anticipated through future updates.
Advanced Stems Performance
Stems are included as a standard PRIME 4 G2 feature, with dedicated controls designed specifically for live manipulation of individual musical elements. DJs can isolate or manipulate parts such as vocals, melodies, bass, and drums directly during a performance.
Dedicated Stems functionality can be combined with the MPCe performance pads, allowing DJs to incorporate Stems into creative performance techniques rather than treating them as a separate menu function.
Powerful FX Workflow
PRIME 4 G2 provides multiple ways to manipulate effects during a performance. Features include two assignable FX toggle switches, Favorite FX buttons, channel Sweep FX controls, Touch FX, Fader FX, Microphone FX, Stem FX, and MPCe FX pad modes.
This flexible architecture allows DJs to access effects from physical controls, the touchscreen, channel controls, faders, and performance pads for a faster and more expressive workflow.
Integrated DMX Lighting Control
PRIME 4 G2 integrates professional lighting control directly into the DJ system with an isolated 3-pin DMX output and built-in Engine Lighting. The system provides one DMX universe with up to 512 channels, allowing compatible lighting systems to be controlled directly without requiring a separate external DMX interface.
The Lighting MPCe Pad Mode adds hands-on control over lighting parameters such as color, position, strobe, intensity, Auto Loops, and Static Looks. PRIME 4 G2 also supports compatible SoundSwitch interfaces for expanded lighting systems. Denon DJ specifically identifies the dedicated DMX output and MPCe lighting controls as G2 upgrades over the PRIME 4+.
Large Touchscreen and Professional Connectivity
The PRIME 4 G2 provides professional balanced outputs for Main, Booth, and Zone operation, along with RCA main output and dedicated headphone connections. The independent Zone output allows a separate mix or playlist to be sent to another area of an event, making the system particularly useful for weddings, corporate events, and multi-room productions.
Two combination XLR/¼-inch microphone inputs provide flexible microphone connectivity, while Channel 3 and Channel 4 provide RCA line/phono inputs for external sources such as media players and turntables.
With Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, multiple USB connections, SD media support, and an internal SATA drive bay, PRIME 4 G2 provides an extensive range of media and connectivity options for professional DJ applications.
